Privacy Policy

The Misunderstood Mom ("we," "us") runs themissunderstoodmom.com. This page explains, in plain words, what information we collect, why, and the choices you have.

The short version

  • We only collect what we need: mostly your email address, and anything you choose to send us.
  • We never sell your personal information.
  • You can unsubscribe or ask us to delete your information at any time.
  • Questions? Email hello@themissunderstoodmom.com.

What we collect

When you sign up for the Doctor Visit Kit or the Sunday Letter

  • Your email address
  • Which stage you picked (New Mom, Busy Mom, or Mom 40+)
  • Which sign-up form you used

We do not ask about your health, symptoms, or medical history in our forms. Please don't include that kind of information when you contact us.

When you share your story

  • Your first name or nickname
  • Your email address
  • Your story, and the boxes you tick (for example, that you're 18 or older and give us permission to contact you)

Stories are never published automatically. We only publish a story with your final OK, and only with the name you choose.

When you contact us

  • Your email address and whatever you write to us.

When you visit the site

  • Basic technical information, like your browser type, device, the pages you visit, and the website that sent you here. We use privacy-friendly measurement to understand which articles are useful.
  • Optional analytics and marketing cookies stay off unless you allow them in our cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time.

How we use it

  • To send you what you asked for, like the Doctor Visit Kit and the Sunday Letter
  • To read and reply to your messages and stories
  • To understand which articles help readers, and improve the site
  • To keep the site safe and stop spam

Who we share it with

We never sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with services that help us run the site, and only so they can do that job:

  • Website hosting (Netlify)
  • Database (Supabase), where sign-ups and stories are stored
  • Email sending (Resend), which delivers our emails

We may also share information if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

  • Email sign-ups: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
  • Stories and messages: as long as we need them to reply or publish (with your OK), or until you ask us to delete them.

Your choices

  • Unsubscribe: every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom.
  • See, fix, or delete your information: email hello@themissunderstoodmom.com and we'll help, usually within 30 days.
  • Cookies: you can change your cookie choices at any time from the cookie banner.

Depending on where you live (for example, California or other U.S. states), you may have extra rights over your personal information. Email us and we'll respond as the law requires.

Children

This site is written for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you think a child has sent us information, email us and we'll delete it.

Keeping your information safe

We use trusted services and limit who can see your information. Stories you send can only be read by us, not by other visitors. No website is 100% secure, but we work hard to protect what you share.

Not medical advice

Everything on this site is for education only. It isn't medical advice, and emailing us does not create a doctor–patient relationship. If you're in crisis, call or text 988.

Changes to this page

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If the change is big, we'll tell subscribers by email.
